چکیده

This paper presents the Strathclyde Poker Research Environment (SPREE) which has been developed as a tool to aid research into the game of Poker, both by enhancing our understanding of the way human players play the game and providing a standard environment for autonomous agents to play. We will justify the need for this tool, outline the principal components and demonstrate potential uses for the system.

An Adaptive Learning Model for Simplified Poker Using Evolutionary Algorithms

Evolution is the process of adapting to a potentially dynamic environment. By utilising the implicit learning characteristic of evolution in our algorithms, we can create computer programs that learn, and evolve, in uncertain environments. We propose to use evolutionary algorithms to learn to play games of imperfect information – in particular, the game of poker. We describe a new adaptive lear...

Pared-down Poker: Cutting to the Core of Command and Control

Poker poses cognitive challenges like those of warfare, business and other real world domains. This makes poker a good test bed for basic research on how people make Command and Control decisions and for applied research on how systems might help people make better decisions. In this paper, I compare the cognitive challenges of poker and warfare, and present a new suite of “Pared-down Poker” ga...
